Got AFS set up on our file server...and then when I went to add clients I spent 5 hours (12a->5a) trying to debug it... apperantly someone had put '127.0.0.1 `hostname` localhosts' (well, with the appropriate substitution) in the /etc/hosts file.... so when AFS made the volumes it bound them to 127.0.0.1 and not the 192.168 address (but vos listvldb showed them to files and not localhost, so I never realized it until it was too late)
So now it's working on the file server and my desktop...it's actually the source of the afformentioned 'CD' I'm listening to. Later today the client will be working on our media server, and then the TV computer will have file content.
Found this interesting, good thing posting it doesn't change any of the answers....

You have one or two loyal pals on LJ... But you probably have better things to do with your time.
You fill out forms at work - why should you fill them out for fun?
