Catching up on culture

So there is a small bit of culture that I caught up on over the weekend.... and I'll just follow tekman's format:

The Royal Tenenbaums (2) Liked it, would buy, would show to others
It's been a couple of days now; so I can't remember what was good about it; only that it didn't seem to rate highly in the 'recurring watchability' area.

The Incredibles (1) Loved it, would buy, anticipate repeated viewings
It was quite good. There were a few things I disliked; but the only one that comes to mind is the 'unresolution' they threw in at the end to show that there will be a sequel.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Somewhere between a (3) and a (4).
The movie had its moments; but it overall didn't really do it for me. Some of the CG aquatic life they created was interesting; but the rift between the real actors and the inserts (in this case the CG aquatic life) was too drastic; it reminded me too much of Monkeybone which was (I thought) rather horrible. I would possibly pick this up for cheap to pad out the collection, or I'd accept it if someone gave it to me (insert other form of getting it free here); but it definately isn't worth full DVD price.

And while I was in Arizona I saw Boondock Saints which I think falls in the same nebulous area as Life Aquatic.

And to put these last two into a frame suitable for people who have hard drive-based DVD players: It's "I guess I could let it take up some space" rather than "Wow, I wish I had more space so I could have this one, too" or something like that.

Maybe one day I'll get around to working on my movie database project again.
